Take the little wrench that came with the disposal and use it to twist the shut-off disposal in the backwards direction. While you are doing that have someone pull strongly on the end of the towel that is hanging out. You might be able to unwrap the caught end.

If you can't do it in the sink try twisting the body of the disposal to unsnap it from the sink and then unplug it. Now you can work with it on a table and grab bits of the towel with pliers to try to rip it out while still using that wrench to turn the rotor of the disposal.

If you can't pull the wash cloth out from the sink, your next choice would be to remove the Garbage Disposal to remove the cloth.

direction to remove and reinstall the garbage disposal can be found on this website.

Kill the power to the garbage disposal and get your hand down there and see what you can do. If you can't fit your hand in there, try someone with smaller hands. There's no harm if the power if off. If this doesn't work, you'll have to remove the garbage disposal to get it out, and it may have burned out the unit.

Sounds like you are going to have to pull the disposal and take it apart.

You might try turning it backwards with the little wrench that goes in the bottom key hole. You may need to push reset button also to get the motor to work after you clear it.

I just had this happen to me. I though about it awhile....got a nice sized claw hammer, slipped the top of the washcloth in the claw and pulled it out just like a nail. If you have enough of the cloth to do this it should work for you....Where there is a will there's a way

I would try making a hook out of coat hanger wire, and hooking it and pulling it out. The suggestions to turn it forwards & back with the special wrench would go well with this.
