is a democrat or republican? i was almost sure that he was a republican... i watch his show and read his book...i was pretty sure he is republican... some say that he is mocking republicans..i just think he is being funny...not to mention he gave that speech in front of the president.... explain

Colbert is probably much closer to a libertarian than anything else. He's about individual rights and more individual rights......i.e. smoking weed, no censorship, etc.

Listen to Ron Paul, that's about as close to Colbert politics as you'll get....or maybe Mike Gravel.

On his show, he acts like he's a republican. Since he makes a fool of himself, he ends up creating a parody of the typical American conservative. In real life, he calls himself a Democrat.
