Here is the situation: I bought a 2005 Nissan Altima in excellent condition. In addition to the original powertrain warrenty, I have a 30 day guarantee where if any problem arises then I can get it fixed free. I noticed a slight noise when braking and a slight whistling sound when parked. For "peace of mind", I had them look at it and they said they found nothing wrong. So I had a second opinion and took it to a trusted mechanic. They identified that the rotors were not replaced when the new brake pads were put on which could explain the noise. Also, their is noise coming from the power steering pump. Upon returning it to the dealership with the second opinion in hand they agreed to have it looked at. The next day I get a call and they say they still cant find anything wrong and wont approve any work. What are my options if any?

Noisy breaks have a lot of different causes and most new pads do make some noise. Have you checked both your brake fluid and power steering fluids? The power steering pump I believe has a problem. The main thing is that you have not gotten an actual qualified reason for your problems. Even your trusted mechanic says it may be because of the rotors which does not preclude any of the numerous other possiblilties. Try to find someone to give you an actual diagnosis. With that information in hand, you can take that to the dealer. If they still insist that nothing is wrong, then just become an a sshole and report them to your local district attorney office of consumer fraud. Most important is to make sure you have everything that went on documented.

I would have first, got in touch with a supervisor to get your car out of the repair area. Was something so wrong with your car that it was undriveable? Then, if they didn't release it, yes, I would have called the police. As far as the truck goes, I wouldn't buy it from them. There is nothing that gets under my skin more then poor customer service. If you can find it cheaper and better somewhere else, why buy it from them? You paying an extra 1,000 to be treated like crap? No thanks. What I would do now is contact the manager of the place, tell them what happened. Who knows, maybe they will be willing to work with you to keep you as a customer by dropping the price of the truck, or doing the work on your car for free. It's worth a shot. From there, I would contact the corporate office.

Read your warranty! Does it say that they will fix anything you can come up with, or does it give limits! Even if the warranty is bumper to bumper, that does not mean that they have to do repairs that they do not believe are needed!

Rotors are not required to be replaced every time you replace the pads, if the rotor is thick enough it can be resurfaced. The power steering pump may make a slight noise that is considered normal!

It is not a new car, it is a used car! They are not going to replace parts for no reason!!

have the automobile repaired elseware, pay for those repairs, then hire an attorney to make the dealership refund you the money for those repairs.

Check with the attorney first, be sure you've got state and local laws on your side.
