As most of you already know, Hawaii is a U.S. state however it's still an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. So imagine if they made a huge bridge from California to Hawaii. And sine Hawaii is far away, the bridge had a few restaurants and gasoline stations along the way. Do you think it'll be a good idea? I think it would be great. But what do you think?

Hawaii is the most remote bit of land on earth, meaning it is further away from any continent than any other island in the world. This bridge would be a huge waste of money. The distance between San Diego and Honolulu is 2611 miles. A bridge this long would be way too expensive simply because of the length but you also have to consider the depth of the water. All other bridges in the world are built in relatively shallow water. The depth of the water is 1000's of feet deep along this route, way too deep to install a bridge. Also the time to drive this bridge would be about 50 hours assuming you make no stops to rest, just stop to eat and get gas. I'm not sure how you want to spend your time but I'd rather fly somewhere in 6 hours than spend 4 days straight driving.
Such a bridge is not even worth considering.

Sounds like a good Idea, but it better be one strong bridge.

I believe that rout California to Hawaii is like a water way highway for big boats, boats sometimes hit bridges a lot more the you see on the news" I know ,I work on a big boat".

The big bridge going in to Florida was hit with fatalities on the first time it was hit, It was hit not only once but twice after that..
A Louisiana railroad bridge was hit by one of our boats also with fatalities.( It was hit more then once before it fell in.)

Boats and barges in the river-way hit them highway bridges a lot more often then you may think , each time it gets hit their is some kind of damage it may be small but still their is some kind of damage , if it gets hit often anything can happen.

It will have to be the strongest bridge ever made.
If you think out tax's are outrages now it's nothing compere to what it will be if thy build a bridge that size, hum forget it I rather fly to Hawaii .

I thought of that too, but I think its a bad idea, we would need gas stations on the bridge.
