First of all, we don't wear dark, long, flowery dresses, and carry square pocketbooks like our Grannys did, but we are not teenagers anymore either. I have a difficult time finding nice looking clothing besides low cut T-shirts, shoes w/heels, hip pants, sweats, and crazy patterned clothing.

No first of all right off the bat I do not like or buy clothing during the fall or winter. They are just so dark and bleek.
I spent quite a lot of time this spring just trying to find a nice spring/summer dress. There was just nothing out there. And I also will not pay an arm and leg for one. I see a lot of styles in the junior section that I would like, but of course they are not going to fit me. I am talking about tops with some style. Not some button down matronly look. Pants and shorts sometimes are a problem as they are cut too low on the waist. We all are not size 4 or 6. It is said that the average women is size 12/14 but the style just are not there. Or if you do find something you like, you can bet it is overpriced and more than you want to spend. Not everyone shops at Macy's or Nordstroms. The markups there are so outrages. I think I have only ever bought one thing in my life from Macy's and I was in Nordstoms only once, as someone had given me a gift certificate. And I felt guilty spending that amount of money for something.

No-one said that at fifty all of a sudden you have to dress like a frump. The clothes are out there, you have to look, and go with what suits you. I buy vintage clothing from the fifties and sixties. I don't wear them all the time but you can get some nice individual pieces. I don't know where you live but Topshop in Oxford Street has something for everyone.

I shop on line mostly as our town really is the pits for my sort of clothes, I hate patterned and flowery, I go for plain coloured tops and trousers, I like t.shirts and shirts that are the proper length and not leaving half of my middle on show, I hate low slung waists, I like waists at my waist. I don't mind the shorter length jeans in the good weather.

Hone I dont like any of todays colors, styles or anything for the past few years even my daughter who is in her late twenties dont like them either.I dont even think they look good on the younger women. What happened to the classic look when even casual looked good enough to go anywhere. Geez I dont want everybody looking at my Boobs and trust me this low cut mess is everywhere.I did the flower power stuff in the 70s.What ever happened to fashion designers wanting to flatter real women instead of exposing them to the elements(LOL). I may be a granny but I dont want to look like one...give me a sweatshirt and a good fitting pair of jeans and tennis shoes and im good to go.Dresses im not even going to talk about them I just pray I wont need one they are absolutly terrible no matter what age or size you are.

Nope - no problem. In this area most of the department stores carry nice looking pant suits; chic casual wear that is not fadish; etc. It would seem any store should offer that...unless one goes to trendy stores MEANT for the young set.

J.C. Penney; Macy's etc. for instance

I buy my shoes at DSW - and they have tons of wearable, comfy styles.

I didn't realize that over 50 needed to dress differently than over 30, or 40... have you looked in the womens' (not misses) department in Nordstroms, Anne Klein, Macy's, etc? There are plenty of stylish options.

I'm usually in T-shirts (I find funny ones) & shorts or jeans. If I go out some place nice I have a few long skirts & blouses with a simple chain or necklace.

Some of the funny ones are: "Some days it's not worth chewing through the restrainsts"....."my inner child thinks you're a big poopy-face."......."you must be this big to ride".....there are more.

I like J.C. Penney, Cato, Silhouettes, Roamans, Lane Bryant and Avenue. I love low rider jeans though and sometimes sweats too.
