The Fort Worth Zoo is entertaining for young children. The Dallas Aquarium and the Science place in Fair park in Dallas are cool too. If you have something to bundle up in then try a night at Holiday in the Park at Six Flags in Arlington.

Take them to the Ft. Worth Water Gardens, the Stockyards, Cowgirl Hall of Fame, the Museum of Science and History and the Ft. Worth Botanic Gardens. Kids like to feed the koi at the Japanese Gardens which are part of the Botanic Gardens.
The Modern Art Museum is also a good place to take them if they have a colorful kid friendly exhibit going on.
For food take them to the Purple Cow. Kids of all ages like that place.
