Yes I have and I do like it very much. I have what they call standing seam. No screws or fasteners showing. I live in the north and snow doesn't stay on there long like it did with shingled roofs. However it is more expensive. Shop around for the best deal. Of course the cost will depend on your house. the size and if you have dormers etc. etc

you are definitely going to pay more for a metal roof, but it is so worth it. they are made of a material that does not rust (galvalum), and yes, they do hold up very very well. you want to make darn sure that you have an experienced and knowledgeable roofer because an improperly installed metal roof is no good. an added bonus: the rain sounds so awesome on a metal roof! there are 100 year-old barns around here that are about to fall down, but the metal roofs are still in great shape!

It's cost effective. In other words it's a little more expensive but will last a lot longer than asphalt shingles will. The drawbacks are snow slides off it (fast) and it is noisy. You may here it when it rains (the sound of the raindrops) depending on what your attic (insulated, finished attic etc. these help shield you from the noises). As well in the summer as the roof heats up in the mid-morning you will hear it groan as the metal expands and slides. None of these noises are terribly loud though.

Metal roofs are awesome. They are considerably more expensive than shingles, but if installed correctly, they last twice as long too.
They can be noisy in a hail storm or heavy rain if you don't have a lot of insulation in the attic, but the snow tends to slide off more readily in the winter.

I've worked in construction for years, and have seen different types of metal roofing. I can't tell you how much. But I can tell you to get at least three bids for reputable companies on any project. You will then understand how much it cost. On a roof, unless you know some one, I would go with the reputable contractors, and not the one-man handy man.

I have one. It's more expensive than a shingle roof but will last forever and they come in a lot of colors now not just red.
