Went to Budapest for new year 2006 - there is a fantastic Argentinian restaurant on the Raday Utoa (name of road) it had a red front but I cant remember the name of it. there was 10 of us and they seated us quickly, great food, really good price, away from normal tourist traps, bars all along that road too. Don't eat or drink in the Irish bar in the middle of town - stupid prices and poor food, we got stung there. If you are looking at the Irish bar there is a street to its right 50 yds down there on the right is a good place to eat too - Blue frontage good range of food at reasonable prices.

I always preferred Buda to Pest for eating out; there's this great restaurant Remiza I think (cannot remember the exact name, but think it's that) where the food was tops!):) You have to book in advance and ask around a bit, because it's off the main traffic routes. But it's worth the effort, take my word for it.

Shakespeare Cafe, I forget the address, but it's near the centre and the food is just delicious.
