Rearranging the second equation:

x = 2y - 4

substituting this last x into the first equation:

4y -3 (2y - 4) = 6

or

4y - 6y +12 = 6

or

-2y = -6

y = 3

substituting this y into the second given equation:

2 (3) - x = 4

6 - x = 4

x = 2
