My heater core seems to be some what plugged. I get very little heat into the cab. I have had it to the dealer but they want to replace it. I feel that it is just plugging up. Have checked the heat of the engine and it is running correctly. I get good air flow through the system but not much heat. I do know that the last time I flushed the cooling system there was a lot of rust in it. This is what I think is causing the problem. I can't seem to be able to find where the hoses are that go from the engine to the heater core. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Have someone show you the hoses that feed the heater core. Prestone makes a flush kit, where you place a "T" fitting into the line and hook a garden hose to it to flush out the system. It will also have the instructions to complete the job. They also make a concentrate that you can use to aid you in the flushing. This will help break up the rust and sludge in the system.

Try changing your coolant every other year, and this should take care of the problem.

good luck.

You just take a heater hose off and force water through with a garden hose. But the dealer is probably right. The core will probably be corroded and start leaking soon after you flush the crud out.
