Personally, I think that most of the newer rock that is considered "popular" sucks like Fall Out Boy especially, but not all of it sucks. I like a lot of modern rock and/or heavy/death metal bands and a lot of the older ones too, but I hear from a lot of people that rock has died, but I think they're wrong, rock just changed. Some for better, some for worse. Just give your opinion on modern rock and list some bands that you like and some that you can't stand.

Well Fonzie T that's what I mean people just look at the popular bands, the ones on the radio and MTV, and say that rock is dead by just listening to these bands instead of discovering the good rock bands that are out there under the radar

You must be kinda new here? There's been an endless debate about that & those bands, trust me.

The general consensus is- turn off the radio & MTV & find some good indie/ underground rock. There's lots of great rock still being made under the radar.

It isn't that bad, but mainstream is. Basically there are still good bands out, but most people would rather listen to the radio, which play horrible rock songs, then find good bands. For example, I just saw Tool in concert this month. Completely restored my faith in rock. But most people didn't care about the show, instead they were talking about AFI, or Yellowcard, or some other crap.

I just think that its what record labels think that sells!! If these bands like Fall out Boy or MCR sell to people and think that 'ITS REAL MUSIC!" Record labels will sign them and give them the money to promote on MTV or on Radio!! All they do is take away the oportunity from real good bands that have talent and no way for people to know who they are! Thats is what I belive.....Check out the undergound scene and you'll know what i'm talking about!!

i agree that rock has changed, but not in a good way. some modern rock band are pretty good, but in my opinion todays rock isn't catchy. just answer me this: when was the last time you ever heard a modern rock band create a memorable riff, like ironman or smoke on the water?

For the most part.
It makes me so sad that the bands I'd want to go see live in concert are all long gone.
*sigh*
RIP Freddie Mercury

no it's not all bad, rock has just become a broader genre. it's branched out from just being classic rock, metal, and punk to having many more genres within it.
