Jeffrey Lorrie has run that team into the ground. He doesn't deserve it. The fans don't support the team. They don't deserve it either. It is a shame that Washington fans had to wait twelve years while Miami and Tampa Bay (Marlins championships aside) have become a disgrace.
The new stadium will be in another city, probably San Antonio. Las Vegas is always rumored, but the gambling thing gets in the way. Portland may not have the right population to support an MLB team. Louisville, Charlotte, Nashville or Memphis could make a run and develop a regional fan base though.

I find it hard to believe they will, and while it is easy to believe that the ownership is at fault for frequently selling off any superstars the team develops, if fans came to the games and showed some interest in the team, then the team could make a few bucks and afford to hang on to their superstars. The team has won 2 world series titles in their 15 year history, teams would kill for that kind of success, and yet, noboby in Florida shows up until October. The bottom line is sports are just not that popular in the Miami area, unless things are going great. Look at the Dolphins. When Marino was around and the team was competitive, the stadium sold out every game. Watch a game now, especially against a northeast team like the Steelers, Patriots or Jets, and you'll see that most of the seats that aren't empty, are filled with the other teams fans. The Heat won the NBA title 2 seasons ago, and now they are struggling a bit and nobody cares. There is so much to do in Miami and southern Florida in general, that nobody seems to care about sports unless they can root for a championship caliber team, which everyone wants, but they don't realize that you can't win them all. It is really just a poor sports city. With the young talent the Marlins have, both in the majors and in there minor league system they should be able to compete every year, but because they can't generate fan interest and afford to keep their players, this pattern of fire sales will continue until they are playing in a city that cares about them. I wouldn't be surprised to see them playing in San Antonio, Vegas or Portland within 5-10 years and thats a shame

The lease runs up at the end of the 2009 season, and they have know for years that they will not have their lease renewed or extended. But MLB is dragging their butts on this topic. There is little chance they will get a stadium. Baseball is too stupid to do the right thing - contract them! There are a few other teams that deserve this fate also. Instead of moving them to another small market - get rid of them. They won't be missed.

For baseball's sake I hope not! The franchise doesn't deserve a new stadium. The team needs to be either relocated or dis banned. The fact that they have won two world series championships doesn't mean a thing. Miami is NOT a baseball town.

Yes, but not now, maybe in the near future as it is impossible for a team to keep playing in the same stadium for more than a certain amount of years...Health Rules for the fans and the players. With my calculations it should be in the year 2100...just Kiddin', in the 2010s

Yes. The question is, will it be in the Miami area or in another metro area? I'm thinking it'll be the latter: The Marlins will likely be moved.
