I'm an 18 year old guy a freshmen and I have found out that a lot of people will be nice to my face and then talk **** about me behind my back. What should i do about this? I know the people who are talking behind my back. Should I confront them or just ignore it? This really bothers me cuz i hate "fake" people?

That's so tough. I would just ignore it--you don't want to give these people any ammunition. Stick with the people who build you up, not tear you down.

Perhaps you should consider moving off-campus next year. Why don't you talk to your parents and look for a student-house where you know and like all the people. You want to be able to focus on your studies, not be distracted by mean people.

Well it's ultimately your decision if you would like to try to deal with the situation though if you do decide to approach the person (wouldn't approach a group as they may team up against the other) who you've heard is talking behind your back, I would try to remain calm and neutral as a hostile demeanor will most likely Not get good results or a positive outcome. Perhaps you can say to one of the people that you believe is talking behind your back that you'd heard that things were said behind your back and that you would appreciate if the person would instead talk to you about it. You just want to remain reasonable and not quick to anger or anything like that.

If things get heated, please just say that you 'have to go' and walk away. We don't want any injury occurring. If you feel as though the gossip or such gets really bad, perhaps you can ask for a dorm change or if even for next semester or such.

One of two things:

1. If these are really your friends and you dont want to lose them, be honest and confront them!

2. Ignore them and gradually transition to new ones!

You should ignore it. This is childish and to acknowledge it would just encourage their behavior. Just because they won't grow up, doesn't mean you have to stoop to their level.

i would just ignore it. thats what i'd do. and if anyone asks u about it just deny it. and don't attack them unless they attack u first. that way u wont get in trouble. u'll just be defending urself.
