These are easy. You can do it!

Look, I'll do the first one, you do the rest:

x + 5y = -7
-x + 2y = -8
-------------

Adding the two equations together gives you:

0 + 7y = -15

Solving for y gives you:

y = -15/7

Plugging the value of y back into either of the first equations results in a value for x:

x + 5y = -7
x = -5y - 7
x = -5(-15/7) - 7
x = (75/7) - 7
x = (75/7) - (49/7)
x = 26/7

-x + 2y = -8
-x = -2y - 8
-x = -(2y + 8)
x = 2y + 8
x = 2(-15/7) + 8
x = (-30/7) + 8
x = (-30/7) + (56/7)
x = 26/7

Good luck with the rest.

These are ridiculously easy, you can do this.

1. x + 5y = -7
-x + 2y = -8 (add them together since we can cancel the x)

7y = -15 => y = -15/7

Now take one of the equations, whatever is easiest and plug it in.

x + 5(-15/7) = -7

x = -7 - 5(-15/7) = -7 + 75/7 = -49/7 + 75/7 = 26/7

Now plug them in (to the other eqn) to make sure:

-26/7 + 2(-15/7) = -8
-26/7 - 30/7 = -56/7 = -8

Say #1:
x+5y=-7
-x+2y=-8

Isolate for x in the first equation, so
x+5y= -7
x= -7-5y
Plug this value into the 2nd equation
-x+2y= -8
-(-7-5y)+2y= -8
7+5y+2y = -8
7+7y= -8
7y = -15
y= -15/7

Plug that into one of the two equation to solve for x:
x+5y=-7
x+5(-15/7) = -7
x=?

Didn't I just say this??? isn't this your homework? If you want to pass the class you should do it by yourself. Just a tip, if you don't get it talk to your teacher, or a fellow classmate, If you are just being lazy.... whatever carry on.
