You have to screw clockwise while depressing the piston. You can buy a tool to attach to a ratchet and extension. It is cube shaped and is fairly cheap. It has protrusions that will fit into the slots on the face of the piston. Being six sided, it will fit most all different makes and models. I suggest taking the caliper off, remove the pads and mount it back without the pads or rotor. This will give stability while pushing and screwing. Also be sure to open the bleeder valve before screwing and close immediately after so that no air gets in it. It will be a bit hard to do, but little by little you should be able. There is another tool you can get that is easier, but more costly, that puts pressure while turning for you. The cheap one will work though. If it is a really old car or truck they sometimes may be stuck, so you may have to tap on it or even put a large c clamp on it to break it loose and then go back to pushing and screwing by hand using the cube tool and ratchet.

go to autozone and buy the special tool you need to turn the pistons in, it looks like a square cube with nubs on it, it only costs about $5 but you need it to turn the pistons back in, they don't just push in like the front ones do.

you need a special tool that will allow you to screw the piston back in place, while compressing it at the same time.
