When my husband and myself first started seeing each other he lived with a man the same age as him, and I used to stay there and say, please lets find him a girlfriend I feel so sorry for him. That was nearly 5 years ago and he is still alone, hes only 27 and never goes out. He has his male friends but his mother and father died, and he sits in that house night after night, sometimes alone. And I know he will sit in that house Xmas night alone, its so sad but at least he has friends and a roof over his head, unlike some people who will be homeless and really alone for xmas.

My roommate may possibly be. Her parents live a couple hours away & I don't think anyone is getting together for Christmas until about January because of her brother. He's in the military & him & his family can't get any time to come out there until then. I may drag her along with me to my family get together just so she won't be alone. I took her w/ me for Thanksgiving so why not? =o) [She had to stay around here due to needing to be at work at 3:30 AM the next morning...UGH!]

Yes, far too many. I'm a careworker and the only person some see on this day are carers like myself! and those are the lucky ones! I know several who won't have even that!
Even though the person I mainly work for (I go in 4 times a day) has family in the town, the only person he'll see is me. I'll make his Xmas dinner for him but as usual he'll eat it alone! He hates this time of year and I can understand why!
I've invited him to my home for the day as usual, but he won't come, even though we've got access to a ramp to get his wheelchair into the house!

Yup. My parents are out of the country on business. They said they would have a christmas party when they get back, but, it's not really the same :( BQ: Yeah, I always get sick on christmas, but I don't like new years, last year I had a fight with my mom because she was leaving... She came back, but i'm still scared she might leave this year.

Yes, I have a friend living 100's of miles away that's going to spend Christmas alone. I'm thinking about maybe calling him Christmas Day and letting him know that I'm thinking about him.

Lots of older people will be on their own this Christmas and for some of them it'll be just another day. If you have an elderly neighbour living alone, it might be good to call on them during the holidays.

I wish I was spending it alone this year for a change,......sometimes family can be very overrated!

I don't know what the dealio is with the spellchecker either....must be programmed by the Yamster.

Yes, I do know of someone and I think I'll pay them a visit on Christmas bearing a warm dinner.

I agree. Christmas is a time to be with people you care about. I don't personally know anyone who will have to spend Christmas alone but if I did, I'd change that pretty fast! Friends are always welcome to spend Christmas at my house.
