Tell your friend that HIV is most commonly transmitted among heterosexual people -- Worldwide, 85% of new HIV infections are acquired heterosexually.

HIV is easiest to contact through intercourse. If you check the statistics, black females are contracting the disease faster than another other demographic. HIV is NOT a gay disease! I have a lot of gay friends, and NONE of them have the disease. When HIV was discovered, it appeared to be a gay disease because so many gay men had the disease. They were just ignorant to the way it was caught, and men are notorious for random sexual behavior, both gays and str8s. It is harder for a man to get the disease from a woman, but just as easy for a man to transfer it to a woman. Being penetrated is the most common form of transmission, but str8 women should be just as cautious as gay men, and i hope that EVERYONE is protecting themselves.

The virus is easily transmitted during anal intercourse and the recipient is most likely to be infected. Many gay men swap from top to bottom hence increasing the number of recipients. Men are by nature testosterone driven and have more aggression and sex drive than the average woman so they are more prone to promiscuity. (sorry if that offends anyone but it is true)
There is another element as well. Gay men have, in higher percentage than straight men lower self esteem due to society telling us we are bad. Low self esteem attributes to a who cares attitude and careless behavior....even if they know the risks.
In Africa HIV/AIDS is much less discriminatory. Men, women and children are all afflicted equally...probably more women have it than men.

Probably for all the same reasons that blacks and straight people under 25 nowadays get HIV(according to the statistics of recent new cases of HIV being reported by the CDC):

Unprotected sex
"I'll never get it" mentality OR
"I'll get it eventually" mentality

Statistically Straight Females get AIDS the most in the USA, but as far as Gays go, it isn't that they all get AIDS, its that when we first became aware of AIDS nobody knew what it was or how you got it and the Gay Community was an easy scapegoat. I hope that helps.

They don't. HIV in Africa where it originated is a heterosexual disease. The population with the fasting rate of new infections in the US are minority women. Do a Yahoo search on HIV Rates and find out for yourself.

Anyone can contract HIV if they practice unsafe sex, unsafe anal sex, or unsafe oral sex. They don't have to be homosexual to contract HIV, it can be brought into any house, at any time, by a partner or spouse who has been with another person practicing unsafe sex before returning home.
