Val Kilmar doesn't make a great dark hero. Michael Keaton pulls it off pretty well but with the cheap animation and props, it could've been better in the 21st century. Tommy Lee Jones made a great villian but I think my favorite was Batman Begins. It shows Batman as the dark hero he really is and highlights all the scarier, darker elements of the comic, without being too mainstream. I can't wait for the sequel!

Batman Returns is, by far the best. It was directed by Tim Burton and is not only consistent to the dark theme of his films, but featured brilliant music from Danny Elman. And while Batman 1989 follows suit, with a soundtrack from Prince and a brilliant performance from Jack Nicholson, Batman Returns has CATWOMAN. And not that Halle Berry crap. . .Selina Kyle- the way catwoman SHOULD be. Michelle Pfiefer played the HELL out of that role and Danny Devito was incredibly believable as penguin. Not to mention Christopher Walken's character as greedy conglomerate owner. Oh Batman Returns is multifaceted and has far more interesting fight scenes.

I'd have to go with Batman 1989 and Batman Returns. The one I hated was the Mr. Freeze One. I liked Jim Carey and Tommy Lee Jones.
And I have only seen parts of Batman Begins and enjoyed the new direction that too compared to the 2 prior to it.
