I would never have one again! Mine worked for the first few hours, then after they did something I think it went out of the correct spot. I felt totally numb, but did not help my contractions. 24 hours after delivery i was totally numb, then I had some a tingling sensation for a few days after that. I have friends that it was great for, so it's different for every person.

It affected me since I had one almost 8 years ago I have a hard time sitting for to long and walking around to much it mostly hurts in my lower back, I also feel like I got a bump just above my buttocks. I didn't get one the second time and I had a very painful delevery but I would never get an epidural again, I am 25 weeks with my third and I am not getting one this time either.

I had to hve an epidural cause I had a major bleed, lost 5 pints of blood cause my daughter pulled the placenta off the uterine wall it took them 9 attempts to get the epidural in my spine, it oesnt hurt tho, its more "annoyng" than painful.
I find that on really cold days, I get an ache at the site of the epidural, but thats it, & thatmight just be something else nothing to do with he epidural

I have slight scoliosis and due to the spacing in my spine it took 9 tries to get the epidural needle in. I am so thankful for my epidural and am pregnant again and plan on having another epidural. I had no side effects at all.

NO, it won't affect you nor the baby. Accidents with epidurals are VERY very rare. You need to tell your OB you are considering the epi, then he/she would tell you what options you have and if it is in fact suitable for you, given that you already have back & hip problems. Discuss it with your Dr.
I used the epi, and it was the best decision ever. I would never do it w/o it and I really have a lot of respect for those who go natural, how on earth do they do it? they are real heroes LOL

it might.
post partum backache that may last days to years happens 10-22% of the time when epidurals are used. Possibly due to “stressed” positions in labor exacerbated by muscular relaxation and the absence of feedback pain to tell you to get out of a damaging position. May (rarely) be caused by nerve damage.

It can if your doctor is not experienced and does not get the correct spot for the administration for the medication. It can stay there and one day move with your spinal fluid into you brain. That is not likely though. Your back will hurt for a couple of days afterward but it is normal. You will be ok. It is no different than getting an IV put in your arm.

No it will definately not affect your back later on. The epidural does not invove the muscles or bones in your back at all. Dont worry
