Ussually the rims are joined by pressure to the wheel, you need a screwdriver to pull the rim from the flat one as if you were opening a cookies can pulling around the whole rim, the you will have to put the rim on the other one by pressing around the ri against the border of the wheel, but very important, check the position of the air valve on the wheel, there should be a hole on the rim where you will have to insert the valve

Tell your idiot BF to take the flat tire and the new tire to a tire shop and have it mounted and balanced.
If the old tire is just flat (nail or something) have the tire shop fix it instead....

Take the flat tire and the new tire to your nearest tire shop or even Wal-Mart and have it mounted and balanced. Then go get AAA cause your bf is hopeless when it comes to vehicles and your dad isn't always gonna be there when you need help with your vehicle!!!

You should have it done at a machine shop. Take it to someplace like discount tire. Take the flat and unless it's in the sidewall they will patch the flat for you, at least they have for me in the past.
