I've just plumbed a washing machine and dishwasher into my new build house. I drained all the hot water but when I disconnected the plumbing under the sink a fair amount of bright blue water shot out - what could this be?

Is it anything to worry about?

Its probably just some sort of detergent or cleaner or something. You'll be fine.

is it in the hot/cold water pipes or in the waste pipe coming from the sink?

just to get things together

if its the hot/cold get the builders back in and as someone said contact the local water board straightaway, that would be very poor practice and most likely break Water Regulations.

if its the large waste pipes then as someone has also said its paint, detergent or somesuch rubbish thats been poured down it

If its a new build , its probably flux in the pipe work , a cleanser used to clean copper before soldering . the pipes should have been flushed out as this is very acidic . run the taps for 10 mins and all should be ok

This could be copper sulphate due to corrosion in the main.
Check the link for some ideas, but if this continues contact your water supplier as there could be contamination in the main supply.
