Why or why not?

I'm a Mets fan and I'm going to say no. Reyes does so much for our team. He is the reason why we score so many runs in the 1st inning every game. He is considered one of the most exciting players in the MLB and is the spark of our team. He is also extremely young and everything is starting to come together for him, defensively and offensively. Johan would be a great pickup for the Mets, but not if they were to trade Reyes. Also, if we were to get rid of him, who would bat lead off? We traded Milledge and Gomez is not ready yet. Only option would be Castillo, but will he stay healthy all year at his age?

No Reyes Is Younger And Will Play Amazing On A Consistant Basis. While Santana Pitches Every 4-5 Days.

Sorry, I can see your a mets fan but the trade is not a smart one for either team. Twins need pitching help, thats what they are asking for. The mets would be killing themselves by giving away possibly one of the best everyday players in the NL for someone who can only pitch every 5 days. Plus you'd be losing a guy who gets on base constantly so your run production would go down thus limiting santanas effectiveness. Id rather have a young great athlete who can play 9 innings 150 games out of the year, then a amazing pitcher who can only pitch 7 innings 30 games out of the year.

In a heartbeat. Reyes folded under pressure on a team filled with quality players.
He isn't, nor do I believe he'll ever be the guy that can carry a team on his shoulders in playoff situations.
Santana is a stud pitcher that can dominate the opposition, especially in a short series like the playoffs and World Series.

Santana is a superstar pitcher, while Reyes is a star player that isn't quite yet proven and in the Twins lineup he wouldn't be the same threat he is in the Mets loaded lineup.

No, because Reyes is younger and he is only getting better. He is the biggest base stealer in the bigs and is a distraccion to opponent pitchers. Santana is great but he only plays ever 5 days and I think his best year might of past, also if you are not 100% sure you can sign him long term, you gave up a great young talent for one year of Santana. Think about it

i might on no account commerce Reyes for Santana that's purely insane! Pitchers thrive on reliable protection and Reyes is arguably the main suitable SS interior the game perfect now,get rid of him from the Mets infield equasion and a huge hollow will open up. And with David Wright's diverse throwing blunders the left facet might grow to be very susceptible. It sounds like the Twins anticipate thank you to lots for thier guy. i might circulate Wright to first, so he does not ought to throw as lots, commerce Delgado,Humber,Pelfry and Heilman in replace for Santana. in the event that they do no longer want this deal they might circulate to the Stankees who will pay something for a large all famous guy or woman team that chokes interior the 1st around. The Mets ought to concentration on a third base guy, Cabrera and Dontrell might do great right here in Flushing.

Good Question, but...NO, I would never trade Reyes who can contribute on an everyday basis while Santana contributes in only 30-35 games. Also, Santana is more prone to being injured that Reyes. I would trade a pitcher for a pitcher...SIMPLE

In today's game top pitching is harder to find and more important than top position players. If the Twins would be willing to do it the Mets would have to jump at the deal. The problem is that the Twins will not be able to afford Reyes and sign him to a long term contract and I don't believe the Twins would do it.

dude idk...they are both incredibl players.....its hard to see who benifits from the trade.....reyes is a quick player!.....if he gets a good hit he can make an inside the park HR! in the other hand Johan Santana can get you a strikeout when you want one and johan is just....JOHAN!!...it'll be the most fair trade ever!

Not in one million years. Moving Santana for Reyes is a total rip off. I would arrest someone for doing so!
