The Melia Hotel at Cayo Coco is fantastic as is the Iberostar group of hotels anywhere in Cuba, the beach at Cayo Coco is just beautiful, white sandy beach that's just like talcum powder between your toes and the ocean is amazing, so clear you can see the fish swimming between your legs, the water is as warm as bath tub water and calm too, take the catamaran trip to Pilar beach as that is so beautiful, just like paradise, you can book trips to Havana via the holiday reps in the hotels, have an amazing time, I can't wait to go back at Easter.

If you go only for the beaches , travel to Varadero. Havana is +/- 200 km from Varadero, so you have to travel by taxi.
One of the best hotels in Havana is, Hotel Nacional de Cuba , nice 5 star hotel with a sea view. A very good hotel is Hotel Saratoga 5 star luxury hotel , renovated last year, situated in Central Havana near Old Havana.
The beaches of Havana del Este are located 25 km east of Central Havana and can be reached by taxi. Nice beaches. See http://www.havana-guide.com ( havana beaches)

Last year my father and brothers came for two weeks - one night in the nH Krystal Cayo Coco, three nights in the Nacional then back to the Tryp Cayo Coco.

In retrospect, they said they would have preferred to stay in the Saratoga in Havana, and the nH the whole time on Cayo Coco.

The main beach areas are Varadero, Cayo Coco, the north coast of Holguin. Also Cayo Largo.

Hotel Tryp Cayo Coco is a beautiful resort. The layout of the resort and the whole staff is amazing! You will be able to book a trip to Havana through your tour group at the hotel.

The beach at Cayo Coco is beautiful. The sand is powdery white and the water is warm and in different shades of turquoise with colourful fish swimming around you. It's such a paradise.

Just be sure when you book your reservations that you book your room on the third floor (or second) to avoid dampness and moisture...this is with any resort you go to.

¡Buen viaje!

For a beach, most of them are nice.
For a hotel, most of them are alike (that 's the idea)
the difference: private accommodations, nice and safe, but the most important: meeting nice people and making lots of friends.
