Historically , the term " knickers " was used, many years ago, in America to describe knee-length pants ( with elastic knee bands ) which were worn by young boys as they grew from childhood into adulthood. ----In America today, womens underpants or " knickers " as they are referred to in England, are called " panties " in America.----Isn't there a saying in England : " Don't get your knickers in a bunch " ???

In the USA, we call knickers the pants which taper just below the knee, and stop there, usually buttoned at the taper - some folks wear them golfing. They aren't really a current trend. They were somewhat popular in the late 70s - mostly for young women.

They call them capris. Some people call them 'knickers' but it isn't very common. Usually they only call them knickers when playing golf. Peace!

Called foundations, undies, thongs, underwear, briefs, boxers, some people call them that. Especially the saleswomen with the UK background. Great Accent! Just love it!

Uh, no. We don't call them knickers here. People will start saying snickers, and snickers as we know it will never be the same. So don't try it. I love my snickers.

No.. panties , underpants, but not Knickers...

Too bad, it's a cute name...

And "knickers in a knot" sounds better than "panties in a wad"
