Hi
I am a frequent traveler to MV - my husband works for an entertainment company based in MV and we stay there quite often. We stay at the Edgartown Commons which I recommend. Its not super fancy, yet comfortable and clean. Each room is a mini appartment with a kitchen. Edgartown is lovely and there is lots do,walking distance, if you do not have a car on island ie restaurants, movie theatre, Chappaquidick, shopping, Black Dog etc . The rates are reasonable for the accommodations. They have differents rates for inseason vs off season. Worth looking into. Enjoy the Vineyard - it is a lovely place to visit.

If your serious about going in the spring, make sure its prior to Memorial Day - thats when the whole rest of the world arrives. Its a lovely place - and I hope you enjoy it! But I would book NOW.
I would also consider staying on the mainland - and daytripping to the island - there are regular ferries through out the day.It might make your vacation more affordable, depending on when you are going.
:)

Google Marhta's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce or travel accommodations...by the way, the only inexpensive accommodations on MV are the campgrounds.
