Alas, this is not true. Orginally cocktail sticks were designed as toothpicks for giants. However in the Gnome/Giant War of 1257, General Sniggart of the 54th Gnome Brigade was trapped in a Giant kitchen and used a toothpick to fight his way out. Thus the misconception. Hope that clears things up for you!

Shh!! The gnomes will hear you! You don't want them to get any ideas about going to Big Lots and buying back their cocktail spears, do you?

They're terrifying enough as it is.
