There has been a lot of easy credit available in the UK for a long time. People I have worked with - especially some of the young ones - have ended up going crazy on store cards and credit cards.

Partly a result, many of people are in serious debt.

well,the gap between the richest 10% and the poorest 10% continues to grow,it is estimated 3 million children live below the poverty line and our pensioners are i believe the lowest paid in Europe.The problem is the same as it has always been,money talks and the poor have no voice

You shoulask the Senoir Citizens of this country that question. Our pensioners are the worst off in Europe, and there are about 7,000,000 in this country. Single Mothers who have never worked in their life are better off to those who worked and paid taxes for 50 years.

You can't say that about any nation to my knowledge. Even the richest nations on Earth have a few people who are not economically well-off.

Right on Nosadda. As I have a small (very small) private pension, I get no pension credit or housing benefit and have to pay Council Tax of £118pm (about 15% of that small private pension)
