Especially the "experts" they invite to newshows to talk about crap like Britney Spears, etc?

Read about this crackpot who thought sexual orientation was a learned behavior. He told the parents of a boy with a botched circumsion to raise him as a girl. What a disaster that was.

The real professionals, meaning the clinical ones, are invaluable.

The social services kind are usually good, but some fools can get in there.

The ones that go on TV are just pop stars and their advice is very harmful, hideous and unscientific. Real therapy is not entertaining, and that can't help anyone except the pop psychobabbleist.

They are as blind men in a completely darkened room, fumbling around in search of a black cat, which isn't there. In this day and age, anyone who professes to CURE people would be hounded out of his or her coutnry club. There's no money in CURES, which is why "treatments" are so long and so consuming of time and finances. Especially finances.

I have said this in the past: There are only two modes of discipline: Art and Science.

Science is any field of study which can be expressed in mathematical terms, Art is that which CANNOT be expressed in mathematical terms.

By this definition. Psychology, parapsychology, sociology and psychiatry are ARTS, not sciences (at least, at this point). And until we start treating practitioners of these "arts" as we would any player of music, any fine art painter, etc, and realize there is no one standard accepted form for practicing these "arts", we will remain as neurotic and screwed up as we are today.

That was what.. back in the 70's? I remember studying that case on my way through college.

Anyway.. I think most people in Hollywood are retarded... so why would I think any differently about psychologists or psychiatrists on a Hollywood show?

As for Psychologists in general practice. They can be very helpful to people.

As for Psychiatrists... I think they have a place... and do good many times.. but I also believe we are over medicated here in America.

I have no use for those who go on talk shows. Mental health issues should not be a side show. There are many crackpots out there but there are also some good ones. If you get into the hands of a good one you are blessed.

People who have studied so hard, but do not have a clue about people, other than to get them hooked and dependent on drugs.

These people provide a VERY EXPENSIVE shoulder to cry on and then get you doped up so you will come back.

A trap. . .

ALL of the school shooters and the mall shooter were on Ritalin and graduated to bigger and better drugs. A doctor had to start them on drugs and what kind of doctor? "A mental health expert". Duh!
