Are they trying to say I put myself in the position to be hurt? My brother tried to take advantage of me yesterday-tried to do something illegal on my computer, & we almost got into a fist-fight. I told a so-called friend about it, & he said, "You should use better judgment next time".

It doesn't sound as if he meant that you are to blame for your brother's actions. It sounds as if he wants you to think about your history with your brother and use your judgment not to get sucked into your brother's drama and meanness.

It was not a very sympathetic thing to say though. A friend should really be more supportive.

Remember this-
the best predictor of a person's future actions is a persons past actions.

Be ready next time.... be prepared.

I guess, don't trust your brother anymore. But it wasn't your fault. You should be able to trust your brother, but now that you know that you can't, you'll be better prepared in the future.
