Queen kept it real their entire time together,
1973-1991.
People may argue, but see,
they were always over-the-top and fabulous,
and were still real.
The band hated to do what people wanted them to. Thats why they wrote in so many genres. They sang pop, jazz, rock-opera, metal, rock, hard rock, dixie-land, skiffles, rockabilly, psh, anything! They did anything to avoid being labeled or getting stuck in a rut! Barely any of their songs sound the same, and they never sold out! They argued nonstop to get their way and were all kinda drama-queens, and weren't afraid to hide it. Of course, they liked the money and all, but you know what? They didn't get any money for at least ten years into their playing, because they had an asshole of a manager who wouldn't give them any!
The lead guitarist still loves his Astrophysics and is still afraid of public speaking. He's a vegetarian, doesn't swear and has always been a huge advocate of animal rights. Plus, he always kept his awesome, insane hair!
The bassist hasn't been seen in years and even when the band was together, he was always a homebody. Got married, had 6 kids and was always with them. During concerts, sometimes, instead of showing off, he'd just turn his back on the audience and just play like that. I watched live footage where he did that in front of about 140,000 people/
The drummer, well, he always liked cars, women and money. He was real, didn't try to hide his temper or back down. God, he was stubborn. Once locked himself in a cupboard to get his song on the B-Side of a specific song.
The lead singer. Well, what can you say about Freddie? He was always larger-than-life. But you know, he only ever painted one hand, he called his cats every day to talk to them, and was too shy to sing when he went to church with a friend. He got a horrible case of nerves when he was just going to make an appearance for an 8 yr. olds birthday party. Twenty 8 yr. olds and he had to give himself this pep talk first.

Thats pretty real to me.

I *heart* Queen.
They were, and always will be, the best.

The Donnas. Not because they have been my favorite for years. But because they stay original. They don't focus on being popular and getting a huge amount of publicity, but they really focus on their music, and care about the fans. Recently a fan of the Donnaholics died and they are dedicating their Christmas single, and starting up a fundraiser for it. Not many bands will do that for just one fan. Also they're REALLY nice. I have met some bands that are so stuck up and full of themselves. I could go on and on about how awesome they are. But throughout their 14 years of music-making, they have kept it real the entire way through.

I think Muse. I guess they're kinda young compared to The Rolling Stones mentioned earlier. But they have been going strong for almost 10 years. Have 5 albums. None of the songs sound the same...but are all the same style which means they haven't changed style in a wrong direction. And whoever said Radiohead earlier. I soooo agree!

I can't wait for Muse's new album in 08. Can't wait for their American tour after the new album release! Go Muse!!!!

Cheers

P.S. Red Hot Chili Peppers??? You have go to be kidding me. They used to be good in the 80s/early 90s. They suck now. Hey oh (snow)???? What the heckkkk?????? Of course if you end every word with the sound 'oh' it's gonna ryhme. They ran out of ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boring....

I'd say off the bat- Slayer. They never went the big time route & stuck to the thrash guns for all these years. Giving the fans what they want. Kinda like AC/DC.

They never worked w/ an orchestra or went soft. Never.
