Lye is dangerous to use, it can burn you very badly. Get a bottle of Gray commercial "Plumbers helper" from Home depot, we use this all the time. Then get a hair stopper, they have them hanging all over the plumbing department.

Hair is probably the culprit, but I hate all those chemicals, and most of the time just a cheap plumbers snake will get the hair out. You know that big plate above the drain plug, and under the spout, remove the two screws, plug out the whole thing, and put the snake down the hole. Do that several times, and run HOT! water down the drain, and get rid of all the junk. Throw the hair down the toilet, and replace the big plate and all its guts, and put the screws back.

Hair today and gone tomorrow! Sorry..
Remove the drain plate. Get a wire hanger and cut it so that the hook is intact. Bend the hook so that it is narrow and then fish down the drain to pull up most of the hair and other dreck. Close drain. No chemicals needed. If you really insist on a "Chemical", a depilatory such as NAIR foam has worked well also.

you could have a hair ball in the drain, slowing it down, get a can of lye and use accordig to the directions. it works 100% better than any liquid available. make sure no standing water is in tub, do it at night when it can sit several hours, flush it well, beware of fumes and keep kids and pets away.
