my friend thinks that in genetics, the individual acquires all the "negative" traits from the mother's side. i know this isn't true, its genetically impossible...please explain why?

This would mean that males also get negative traits from their mothers. Any alleles (forms of genes) that the males get can be passed to their offspring, so the males would also be able to pass on these "negative" traits.

Alleles, or forms of genes, for undesirable traits can be passed from either or both parents to the offspring.

that's a lie I don't know how genetics work, but i know for sure good and bad traits come from any of the parents.

everyone has recessive and dominant traits and the dominant ones are the ones that win most of the time.

it's something like I said I just don't remember the rest.
