It is great to watch, did you see the one last week with the psycho woman, scaring all the customers away!!
I hate it when they don't agree to all of Gordons ideas, but if they did, it probably wouldn't make very good viewing!!
I don't however think that it is necessary for Gordon to make personal comments to the staff!! Not very proffesional!!

They all sign up for a notoriously brutally honest chest to ask for help.
A lot of the people have been people who have a dream and they can`t realize why they`re failing at it. They`re basically being told that the reason they`re failing is all their fault. And that they`re idiots. The people that are the most angry are the people who are convinced they are doing everything right and that they are talented brilliant and infallible. Ramsay isn`t big on sugar coated the truth for them.
Fox has also edited the show like mad. The original Kitchen Nightmares had more swearing but skipped the dramatic music and camera angles. There are moments of 'drama' when I can`t figure out what`s happening since the shots don`t seem to connect up. Fox seems to also like there to be a moment of break through so we can follow what happens more easily or something. The fights and arguments of the first few days are capitalized and expanded for most of the show. Another part I like about the original was the way he interacted with the chefs. You got more time with them, not just the head chefs, and you felt like he had really improved not only the menu but their skills. I really don`t know why Fox cut out that and the follow up visits but it`s a shame. You do get this sense that Gordon come in and yells at people, gives their restaurant a make-over, a new menu and gets the worse staff member in line.
EDIT: Last night Ramsay convinces the chef to throw out a plate, which is clearly white and round and the edit you see a red square plate with the food being tossed. It was more dramatic in their minds even if it was clearly a shot from another day. Perfect example of fake drama that makes you wonder what really went on.

After last nites episode, I was wondering about this very thing.
The french "chef", michel, at some point in the drama states that he is 320,000 $ in debt with that restaurant. I couldn't see this guy asking for any help, because he was so arrogant. So perhaps it was someone that is loaning him money that asked for ramsey to come in and get the place inline.
I think last nites show was truly the best one ever. That was the most digusting walk in cooler ever. Ramsey was always in that guys face. I thought they were going to come to blows. But then ramsey leaves and "cools off".
This french "chef" michel, states that hes worked with the great chef Thomas Keller. Probably for like 1 week then Chef Keller fired his weak a.s.s. But once gordons friends come to eat at the restaurant and taste his menu, they all say great things about it. So I was thinking, maybe these people were paid to come and eat there hehehehe.
The sous chef seemed pretty good last nite, but the "chef" had his hands tied and wouldn't let him perform like he could, unless the "chef" left the kitchen. I'd be letting that kid do everything. He seemed very organized, so let him rock and just watch the profits accumulate.
This show is becoming one of my fav shows on tv.

Its reality tv so that means there is a lot of editing. Sure the ppl may be yelling but they probably have been at it all day and finally can't take the criticism and everything anymore. Theres also some contracts and stuff involved so there are no backsies. If you've seen shows like nanny 911 or wife swap and trading spouses they go from one extreme and in the end they show everyone all perfect and getting along with eachtother. Its a whole bunch of editing.

I didn't watch the episode last night, I saw it when it aired the first time. Love the show. Actually, I love every Gordon Ramsay show. I've been watching the BBCA shows too. Both Kitchen Nightmares and the F-Word. Love them all. Can't get enough of Gordon.

This show is great entertainment. I have a hunch they probably aren't as ticked off with the criticism as they are portraying. I think perhaps they are being asked to play it that way (to a degree) to make the show more fun for the viewers to watch. For starters how many people would put up with being treated the way Ramsay treats them and talks to them. I know I wouldn't be too receptive to someone speaking to me like that. And if it was all nice and cutesy no one would want to watch.

Chefs are known for their egos. Maybe restaurant and pub owners are just as bad. I don't know. Some people are genuine but find the criticism hard (he doesn't exactly break things to them gently does he)? But, I swear there have been a few who had no intention of changing. They just wanted to be able to say he was in their kitchen like that is enough to get people flocking in forever more.

Those people are desperate... they need the professional help but they need the MONEY they get for letting Ramsay beat them up, even more.

Truth hurts...........end of!
Who likes the truth when they think they are right????
Either way, the owner would have to give permission to get the help and to record/televise the programme, but I do believe it is the owner that asks!
