Your right that strict gun control is considered a liberal idea. But people who accept one liberal idea or another are not forced to accept all of them at once. Womens equality is a highly liberal idea. I happen to favor it. Environmental concern is a liberal idea. I accept that one too. I am not in favor of torture which is considered liberalism now but used to be something both sides thought was obvious. I own a gun and I think I have a right too. Does that mean I am forgiven for wanting pay equal to a man and thinking that trashing the planet may not be a good thing?
Nope because there is no forgiving a lib. So what should you do? Should you tell me I am wrong to believe in the 2nd amendment because Libs are not allowed too? Are you going to report me?
Ideas are liberal or conservative. The idea that all guns and knives and maybe pointy sticks should be destroyed for our own good is liberal. People are just people. They have a few liberal beliefs and a few conservative ones and a lot of moderate ones. People are rarely libs or cons. Just people.

They don't necessarily want to take away your gun, they just want to control its use. They want to tell you when, how and where you can use it. In other words it is another in their effort to control you. They want you totally dependent upon them for everything. This guarantees them your vote, thus a lifetime, for them, of power over you.

On second thought, scratch most of that. I'm thinking that perhaps they do want to remove all guns. This would take away those guns from honest responsible citizens and allow only those who are dishonest and irresponsible have them.
That sounds more like the convoluted liberal rationale that I have come to recognize.

I suggest humbly that both parties have very little respect for civil liberties and the constitution, and are much more focused on increasing the governments control over our lives, which helps them swindle the taxpayer for more money.

The Democrats advocate increased gun control and increased government meddling in health care, the Republican want to see government interference in our privacy and morality.

Both parties are also big fans of pork-barrel politics and earmarks. The Democrats are corrupt and don't care a damn about your individual rights, but neither do the Republicans. Republicans believe religious morality and security supercedes freedom, and Democrats believe social justice supercedes freedom.

Both are very good at ensuring they make gobs of money on the campaign trail, and very good at making sure they get as many tax-payer funded perks as possible.

I think both parties should re-read the Bill of Rights and the Constitution and remember what it is they are allegedly elected to defend and abide by. Both of them need to stop spending our money like drunken sailors on payday.

How about the 4th amendment? - warrantless searches are illegal unless Bush says so!

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

If you do some research, you shall discover that the liberal intellectuals have recently petitioned the Supreme Court to change its current interpretation of the Second Amendment, to allow people the right to bear arms.

I was born in 1948 and there hasn't been a gun yet that ever did anything to make me free. So if you're the New Sewage Nation Wanna-be I suggest you get your facts straight before you give out revisionist history lessons.

I don't want to take them away. I just think they're too easy to get.

Using con logic... if you don't have anything to hide, then you shouldn't worry about someone taking the time to dig into your background before selling you a gun.

Who do you need to kill, that you need to be able to buy a gun right away? What sort of gun emergency exists in your life?
