Poss able some eyebrows would be raised, so what. All an Abacus is: a primitive computer system. You mite even meet new people by using it. Besides if it does not hurt any one, and your happy with; what difference does it make?

I think eyebrows would be raised only because someone actually knows how to use one. I think it would cool to see.
I know that I've always been fascinated :-)

Do you really care if it is acceptable? Is your worth based on what others think of you? If it works for you do it.

some Chinese merchants still use them. if you use one in class, you might get heck if you click the beads too loudly. i have two of them, and i'd really like to know how to use one.
