Please tell me that this is just a joke. See the party is great. You get to have a ll your friends there. You eat like a pig and probably take 2 bazillion pictures. BUT, two years from now you have nothing to show for it. That is unless you get some really cool worth wild collectibles, or if your unlucky and something less enjoyable comes from the event. Now the car, that's different. You could get a fine tuned high end sports car or a POS. But in two years you'll still have it and will enjoy going out to movies and other events with friends(i.e. boy/girl friend). You may even have upgraded it alittle and even learned how to do work on it yourself. That means that your getting smarter and you have something to show for your efforts. BUT, yes there is a but. The car has a down side. You have to learn to respect the car(i.e. drive safely and take care of it). You have to buy fuel for your new found beast(and at nearly $3.00 a gallon you'll need a job). Also oil changes, car washes, tune ups, etc, etc. Yes the Car does win on one hand but loses in the wallet. And yes the party wins now but loses in the long term effect. So maybe there is no easy answer to this question. Me I choose the car. But I paid for it and that meant that I respected it more. Oh a nd I never had the party, but my friends enjoyed getting rides in my first car(it was a 1994 Porsche 911 and it was a demo model, had 8560 miles on when I got it). By the way I lost the car in 2001 in a divorce so maybe it doesn't really count anymore. Best of luck in your decision making.
Drive on friend...............................................!

A lesson in responsibility and humility.
I swear...the My Super Sweet Sixteen nonsense has really turned teens into shallow and materialistic twits. NO 16-year-old deserves a brand new car...if that's what your parents were going to do.
Have a small party at a pizza place. No need to waste money on turning 16. Now 21, 30, and 40...that's another story.

Oh, gosh, that's a hard decision. But I'd say the party... It's a more memorable experience, and you're only going to turn 16 once. Ever. There will be other opportunities to get a car :)
Happy birthday!

The party. You can get a car whenever whereas you only turn 16 on one day of the year. Wouldn't you feel better in yourself if you saved up to buy your own first car by yourself.

I'd take the car so I could have it forever. Or at least longer than the party.

definitely the car, a party only lasts a day... but the car will last a long time... plus you'll have more freedom with the car.

the party, turning 16 is a once in a life time chance.
you can take the care when you save up money and have it later in life.
the party was the best decision for me.
