...how do you know your internet search results aren't filtered as well?

They very well could be. But I suppose that since we are so connected with technology and the world has therefore become such a smaller place, i personally assume that word would have gotten to us about something like a coverup, like the chinese and Tienemen (spelling?) Square. if u type it into Google there, it wont come up. but something like that happening in america is imrobable, i think, because so many people come in and out of this country every day, and world news is transmitted SO much faster here, as opposed to a country like china especially, who doesnt really let people out.

All information coming out of China passes through country-wide firewalls. No internet lines can exist in China accessing external resources that do not pass through this filter. All internal information accessible by web is monitored in the country for compliance. We don't have that in the US, many of the web servers we access are in-country; their is no blanket filter in place, and it would be impossible to construct one at this point given the complexity of the connectivity of our network and the number of users.
