If you have, how did he act? was he polite, or was he in a bad mood & a jerk? (when I met him, he had that attitude where he hated everyone-I was lucky to get an autogragh from him, as he was signing posters, he's cussing; "GOING!-GOING!-GOING!!.. then he looked up at me as I got to him with that mean look, & I go; "sean!-S-E-A-N!! (my name)-I was nervous.-(this was back in California about '91, at the N.A.M.M show-Anehiem convention ctr.)

everyone in metallica is a jerk. once i went to a rangers game and james hetfeild (singer) was all the way on the other side of the ice. so me and my dad personally walked over there and he was getting up trying to escape. i put my hand out like for a hi-5 and he walked right passed me. i started to follow him an i was saying your fans make you who you are. without us you would be a zero. and thats when his bodyguards surrounded him.

but yeah they are all jerks.

That sucks. That's why I'm always reluctant to meet members of my favorite bands. I don't want any negative memories. I have been lucky with the people I have met though, they were pretty cool.
Metallica needs to play a tour where they only book clubs with a maximum occupancy of 200-2000 and charge 15 dollars a ticket. They need to remember what it was like back in the day. It might bring them back down to earth a bit.

independent answer - Lars Ulrich Biased answer - Tommy Lee yet somewhat, Tommy does not have any actual means, in case you seem at any of his songs and rhythms, this is surprisingly shallow. Lars on the different hand had a lot of hard hitting and speedy stuff in Metallica's older days. however the two one in each of them are surprisingly exciting.

I met Lars (and the rest of the band) in 97' Ft. Worth TX. They were all fairly laid back. We happened to get in really early before they let everyone else in. The band was at the side of the stage messing around with something and just talking. We approached them and they were cool to us. Managed to get a 10 min conversation with them. We never asked for anything (autographs, pics, ect) just drank beer and talked.

Back then I was a big fan of Kirk and spent most of the time talking to him. But overall they were respectful, funny, and for the most part cool.
