Hypnosis tapes, Cd's etc can be very affective if what you wish to do is a simple transition.

If you have subconscious blocks that always stop you from not smoking etc then seeing a hypnotherapist may be more beneficial.

Hypnosis tapes can work. The important factors are how much you want them to work, and how much effort you are willing to put into achieving the solution. Self-hypnosis is also an option, and many times more useful. A hypnotist is basicly a guide to you doing the hypnosis yourself. you need to have a quiet place where you will not be disturbed, consider how much of an emotional reaction you would like to have in connection with what you want to change, and why you engage in the behaviour to begin with. Consider what kind of trigger device you want, and do you want to be disgusted by your own desires, or do you need to feel more relaxed in a situation? Specifics thought of ahead of time are important. Remember that stuff that leaks out of the drums behind fast food places garbage cans? That smell in the summer time can be a great thing to remember if you are trying to quit smoking. imagine dipping each cig's filter in that stuff every time you want to light up. How willing are you to vividly experience that? Well, maybe you should do it for real once,and then forever after the memory will be pretty bad. Plus the taste of that never comes out.

I quite smoking 12/4/05 (with hypnosis & accupressure)!!! Yippy.

The basis of the hypnosis is that you must conciously want it real - real - real bad. Some ppl do hypnosis to quit smoking, but they're still making "Excuses" and "Justifying" why they smoke (over eat, grind teeth, stress out); in these cases hypnosis rarely workes ... see, you can't go against what you believe conciously in hypnosis. Rather, in hypnosis, you're re-programing your sub-concious to match your waking concious. Typically, it takes 21 days to change the sub-conscious pattern. This is why CD's & tapes are recommended.

No.
I went for hypnotherapy with my husband almost 2 years ago and included in the session was a CD which you played regularly to reinforce the thoughts and suggestions
My husband hasn't touched a cig since.
I lasted a week, BUT I listen to the CD almost every night as it's great for getting me off to sleep

i went to a bloke that was reccommended from ten o ma friends and collagues intead of using the tapes he was only fourty quid for an hour and ahalf! went thrree weeks ago and havent touched or even had the urge for a ciggy and thats coming from a thirty a day habbit! how you like them apples!!! would recommend it to anyone... go to the guy and you get alot more...sack the books and tapes buy the real deal...

It depends upon the person using them I think. I've heard some people say they've actually quit smoking due to them but others say they are frankly a load of crap. It depends if you are susceptible or not to external factors upon your consciousness.
