Say what? Who actually believes this lie? I read this comment in the weddings section and had to blink when I saw it. I'm not Catholic and I'm not offended by them. I know many non-Catholics who have them in their homes. Does anyone else find this to be a strange stereotype?

Yes that is a strange stereotype, I like Nativity scenes and I'm not catholic but I am concerned when they are in front of a public building, then I think it is a little offensive because I want separation of state and Church. Otherwise I think that is BS.

Never heard of such a thing.

They're widely seen in Protestant Churches too.

Now if you want odd nativity scene ideas there's always the Spanish/Basque/Catalan "Caganer" figure.
"In 2005, the Barcelona city council provoked a public outcry by commissioning a nativity scene which did not include a Caganer."

Now I think that is a definite regional variation not found elsewhere (*and* quite likely to give offence if it is tried!)

Catholic churches don't even put out their Nativity sets until Christmas Day.
I've never heard of thought they are only for Catholics.

One of the most beautiful nativity scenes I've ever seen is in front of an Episcopal Church. Guess ignorant people still abound!

Yes. I didn't think the nativity scene was relegated to just Catholics....That statement was obviously made by someone is misinformed.

i've got faith you may desire to be up front with people. i might say on your advantageous voice, with a view to no longer offend them: "you recognize, if I got here into paintings the following day and found out which you were attacked and eaten by potential of wild canines , i might blink as quickly as, giggle, and proceed on with my paintings."

It offends me if it's on public property because it violates the constitutional separation of church and state. However, I'm not at all offended by such things if they're on private property.

A nativity is important in any Christian religion.
We have one and there is also one on the altar at my church. I'm Not Catholic.
Catholics have a lot of idols they worship.
