Was Thomas Jefferson the first black president?
Are there any books I could read on this?
Does the white house cover this up? Wouldnt this suggest the white house is racist?

I don't know the legitimacy of this but i found read an article titled "Obama Wouldn't Be First Black President".

In the article it states that "Research shows at least five U.S. presidents had black ancestors and Thomas Jefferson, the nation's third president, was considered the first black president..." "...Jefferson, who served two terms between 1801 and 1809, was described as the 'son of a half-breed Indian squaw and a Virginia mulatto father,' as stated in Vaughn's findings. Jefferson also was said to have destroyed all documentation attached to his mother, even going to extremes to seize letters written by his mother to other people."

Very interesting. It also says that the reason those 5 men were able to be elected was because they hid their Black Heritage.

"Wouldnt this suggest the white house is racist?" Hmmmm...What do you think? In the history of America, well over 200 years, every single president has been identified as White.
I don't understand how people can suggest anything other than racism.

Sad but true "Racism's still alive, they just be concealing it".

Hello,
Never would of figured him to be black? Ever saw his picture or read his bio.....
Another thought struck me, why care what color someone is. I mean are we now thinking of what color people are instead of what they have done or can do.
I am sure this has something to do with the upcoming election. Those who are going to vote just because someone is a curtain color.....is just not responsible voting.

Back in the day many slave owners had babies with there slaves. There was one who's father cared very much, this was back around the 1860's( back in the civil war times) who was sent to Europe. This half black man came back a very well educated individual and wrote articles for the Union.

The first bull dogger in the rodeo was a black man.

These are the types I would think someone would want to look up and read about. Those who did not hide what they were.

Racism starts at home. Any color of people can be racist. Even the blackest of black or the olive of skins.
This question can be a prime example of racism to some.

Once we as a society quit targeting certain people just because of the color of there skin then we as a society can say we have taken a step forwards.
If you do not realize black or color is more dominant then the white pigmentation in the skin. With this in mind, some day we will all be of color, if those people like to believe it or not.

Read your history! Thomas Jefferson owned slaves, so how could he be black? Slavery wasn't abolished until Lincoln during the Civil War. The first powerful black person in America was Frederick Douglas who led the abolitionists movement and was a trusted advisor to Lincoln

Thomas Jefferson's slave, Sally Hemmings, was a 1/4 black woman who was also his dead wife's sister. He had a relationship with her that lasted many years, and they had a number of children whom he educated and prepared for careers. He was not black.

But what's this phrase I used to hear often that Bill Clinton was "the first black president"? What's with that?

Thomas Jefferson was not black. But like so many White men of the time, TJ had some sistah love on the side, whom he had a child with.

ummm, how would Thomas Jefferson be the first black president? he wasn't black, he had children with his slaves but that doesn't make him black. This wouldn't suggest that the white house is racist, if it was, Condoleeza and Powell wouldn't be allowed in.

Oh my....oh my...just anything to rouse the rabble, eh? I'll bet Jefferson would be surprised to find out he's black now!
PS - Of course you'll find racism in the smallest things if that's how you want to perceive everything. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of people trying to get on with their lives.
