Thanks for sticking to the questions ;)

They are picked by the colleges for admittance.
Yes, you can be average and get in. The loan has to be repaid. America is the land of opportunity and you can shape your future here.

Yes and No. I'm sure there are cases of highly intelligent individuals from low income areas having to go right to work upon graduation from high school to help support their families, regardless of their ability to fill out an application for a student loan. And with the student loan industry taking a turn down the for-profit road paved by the likes of the Health insurance industry, upon completion of college, students are thousands of dollars in debt with interest rates that are steadily increasing. And not everyone who graduates college can find career employment suited to their education. I know a guy who went to school for graphic design and ended up moving/delivering furniture in an antique store. And a woman who went to law school and is now a waitress. There has to be a better way to make college more affordable and avoid saddling our college graduates with debt to truly make this a "land of opportunity."

You don't even need average intelligence. There is no shortage of college-educated idiots waltzing around waiving their worthless degrees around who think they are now qualified to jump into some management position because they spent the last four years drinking Jager and screwing horny coeds.

yes it's true, but welfare is still easier to apply for and doesn't require any work at all...so more people are on welfare in the USA than in college...

What it verifies is that we have lowered the standard in the USA to allow certain groups to feel as though they have attained a certain status.
