The best advice I received was :NOT TO GIVE UNSOLICITED ADVICE.
It invariably leads you to trouble and is like gifting a designer comb to a bald headed guy. He doesn't want it and gets angry with the gift. You worked so hard for him and he reacts badly ... so you're angry.

Never give away for free what you do for a living.
Look after yourself and your family first, because nobody else will.
Always question authority, find out the truth and don't blindly believe what any Joe tells you, what you read in the papers or see on the TV, etc.
Treat others kindly and with generosity, and be treated kindly in return. (This can backfire sometimes though, because others will take advantage of you. Balance - and keep the Mrs Jellybean factor in mind).
Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer. (Came from my grandfather who fought on D-Day).
Never forgive foul deeds or words spoken to you. It's not worth the energy to try. Hate them back. It's natural and therapeutic.
Follow your dreams, not the dreams of someone else, and ignore anyone who laughs at your dreams. You have the capacity within you to achieve them, no matter how long it takes if you just don't give up.

1) Never Play cards with a man named after a city
2) Never date a woman with a tattoo of a dagger anywhere on her body
3) Never get less than 12 hours sleep a day.....

Let's see... I guess it would have to be...
Instead of trying so hard to be someone and somewhere you can't, be the person that you are, in the place that you are and you might just find that those two people are the same.
