I didn't realize that the birth control i'm taking has been expired for over a year, will it still work?

It might work, but I wouldn't risk it. Go and get new pills.

According to my pharmacist, all prescription medication looses some of its strength after being a year old. It may still work, but be less effective. To be on the safe side I would get the doc. to call in a new script for you. If you picked up the pills recently from the pharmacy, I would call them and notify them of the error, they should replace them without a problem.

Why risk it?
Get some new ones.
Throw the old pack out.
