Well, honestly, do not expect him to give you the benefit of the doubt and allow you to withdraw now. University policy states that you are responsible to make sure that you withdraw by the deadline otherwise you will receive a failing grade. If he gives you a W, he risks being disciplined for it himself.
Now, one failing grade is easy to overcome by retaking the class and getting at least a B; this shows that you do understand the material and that previously, something unusual happened that resulted in the failing grade. You will still have some explaining to do if you plan to go on to graduate school, but it is not the end of your career either!

RE:
I failed a college class! Is my college career over?
My math teacher is from Africa and hardly speaks English, so there was a huge communication barrier, and on top of that, I've just always been bad at math.
So I just stopped going to class after about the first month.
Now I've been trying to e-mail him and meet up with him to talk...

This isn't going to end your college career, especially if you can replace the bad grade with a better one, but I hope you've learned some valuable lessons on how not to handle problems with a class. There are a lot of math and science instructors who aren't native English speakers, so if you're going to be studying those subjects to any extent, you have to find a way to deal. If you find yourself struggling for whatever reason, get yourself a tutor. And whatever you do, never just stop going to class. If you decide you want to drop, take care of it well in advance of the deadline.

Your college career is not over. You should have switched into another class if you were having so much trouble understanding the teacher. You could have spoken with the dept. head and explained your situation. Don't make excuses, what happened has happened. Just pick yourself up and take the class over with a different teacher. Keep going. Just don't let it happen again.

You might be put on probation, depending on your other grades. However, when you get into another situation like this....please change classes immediately. Don't just stop going. That's not a solution.
And you don't have to talk to the prof to drop the class at most colleges. You need to talk to your adviser. However, there are drop/add dates at most schools. Once those are over, you have no choice. Pay attention to details and make wise decisions earlier next time. You'll survive!

Don't worry. It won't kill you (unless you want to be a doctor - but even then it may not).
If you re-take it with a better grade it will even out your F to a more acceptable grade. And, because it's only your first year (4 year college?) I wouldn't fret too much about it. After the 3rd year that F will be completely diluted amongst all of your other A's! :-)

Well if you retake the class and replace the grade, you will be OK. But if you dont, you will always have an F on your transcript. But one thing is for sure, dont stop going to class just because you dont understand the teacher. You need to do all you can to pass every class. If you have to see a tutor , studys groups, ask the teacher questions-whatever it takes.
Take this as a learning experience.

I am not sure if this is the case with other schools, but with mine if I fail a class and retake it the F would automatically go to an W.
No matter what it is not the end of the world for your college career. It's math, and people understand math is not the easiest of subjects for a lot of people.
Good luck!

Don't make this a trend buddy. I failed a couple classes because of my failure to show up and trust me it's not good. Retake the class next time and GO TO CLASS!!
