This is a can of worms type of question, but I'll try and answer it from a gun owners perspective.

Two things we know: 1. You can outlaw guns, but you can't keep them from being created. As long as there exists a chemical formula to create propellants, and metal that is being pulled from the earth, there will be a way to create guns.

2. Since we know guns will be created and will get into the hands of people no matter what, who would gun laws be biased against? They would be biased against law abiding and responsible citizens. Criminals would get their hands on them no matter what, but the people who would defend themselves from criminals would not have a legal means to protect themselves and their homes.

Thirdly, the second amendment was conceived by our forefathers with the genius realization that a government with a population of disarmed citizens is all the more likely to become tyrannical. The second amendment isn't there for us to protect ourselves from everyday criminals... it's there for the citizens to have protection from their government! The concept is a fantastic illustration of how the forefathers envisioned a government for and by the people. We'd be smart to remember this key fact.

We already have plenty of gun control laws. What we do NOT need is a gun ban.

They banned owning guns in Washington D.C.

Take a look at their crime rates sometime...

Didn't work out so well.

There are already laws against shooting people. Do you REALLY think that one MORE law about having the gun will make a difference?

I don't think it's ridiculous to provide a legal way for sane, rational, law-abiding people to buy guns to hunt, or even to defend themselves against these crazy people. My god, have you never really REALLY considered that those crazy people you talk about would get their guns even if that sane, rational, law-abiding part of the public was banned, banned, banned from buying them? And then what are we sane rational people supposed to do when a gunman threatens a crowd and we are in a perfect position to take that gunman down? What are we sane rational people supposed to do when threatened in our own homes? Before you go talking the talk of outright banning banning banning guns you ought to try GUN EDUCATION... for yourself.

There is a gun control policy. When I shoot at something, I hit it. Can't get much more control than that.

If you want to write your senators and congressmen and ask for a repeal of the second amendment, good luck with that. I suggest that you have someone proofread it for you.

Cordially,
Bill

Commas for that reason mean a itemizing. Its almost like writing "and" between the countless issues. for that reason you are the single misreading the quote. In very undeniable English it states that the state defense force and all the people of the state have the best to maintain and bare palms. Theres a asserting that "the people should not be fearful of its government, the government could be fearful of its people." How do you assume we make the government fearful individuals in the event that they have all the weapons? The nationwide shelter isn't a state defense force, it solutions first and appropriate to the U. S. government, then the state in case of riots(so technically against the people) and organic failures(like Katrina).

There are gun control laws; there are also gun ownershiplaws. Your opinion doesn't outweigh the bill of rights and the right to own a gun. I agree standards need to be tightened.

Good idea. Ban American tradition, self-defense, and take away guns from law-abiding people; even if criminals will find a way to get guns anyhow. I'm glad you probably don't vote.

You're ridiculous. We have gun control legislation, perhaps not as much as would please Democrats. People like you were why we made the Second Amendment. Half the time guns are what keeps crazy people at bay. Personally I think you're a bit crazy yourself.

Those who would trade liberty for security will soon lose both, and deserve neither.
