If I ask, I want to know. You can learn so much and get their guard down and find out info or "intel" that you can use later to balck mail them. Naw. I have several tings to say such as Hey, hello, morning, etc. But It I ask I mean it. You can look at people and tell if someone is having a rough time and wants ot talk.

It depends upon how much time I have and where I'm going.

Most of the time we say 'how you doing' as a greeting, rather than really meaning how are you doing. And even if you really want to know how someone is doing, the person being asked doesn't always want to burden others with their woes. It depends on how close you are/how well you know each other. Best friends will immediately divulge. Neighbours/casual acquaintances usually don't bother.

When I say "How YOU doin'?", it is invariably said in the style of Joey from Friends to an attractive woman, and it just means I want to get them into bed. I don't mind if I get the long or short version, the end result is always them same - a RESULT!

Heyyyyy! ;-)

How you doing is said loosely in Ireland meaning Hello! It is only replied using Not so bad and yourself!! If I want to know how someone is actually feeling I'd say so how you been keeping!
