Moss grows on most moist shaded surfaces. Leave it on the trees as you will damage them by removing it. scrape or power wash it off the fence. you can also have the tree thinned out so that it gets more sunlight to the trunk and branches and the moss or lichen will go away.... it is not hurting the tree. if it grows on the ground, Remove it . It is very slippery when wet to walk on.

If the green gunk is on North facing bits of the tree/fence then it's probably lichen or moss. Scraping it off is the only way.

It's more than likely Moss. I wouldn't scrape it off the trees but I would scrape it off the fence. You could use your garden hose and a bleach and water solution.

It is probably moss or lichen...Its plant material... You could powerwash it off the fence, but it would be best to leave it on the tree. It won't hurt it and it most likely is helping it...

Where do you live, and what exactly does it look like (texture)? It can be moss, especially if you live in a damp area, or it can be mold. But, it is most likely moss. And you can try to scrap it off, but it will come back. Go to your home/hardware store or nursery in your area that can give you specifics on what you are dealing with.
