Last Friday I signed a lease with an apartment that I didn't want....I did it because I was in an abusive relationship and I had to get out immediately.

Now that I'm there I can't bear the fact of being there for a year. It's tiny, it's expensive, and I hate the neighborhood. I acted too fast, and I already signed the lease and put down $3000 for my security deposit.

Please someone tell me what my options are to get out of there.

Beg to get out of it. You have no legal recourse, you signed a lease and are now responsible for it. Check with your state housing authority, there might be some lemon law clause that you can involk, but I doubt it. Beg them to get out, and pay them part of the security, that's the only way as far as I can see.

you are in a lease. Talk with the landlord, but . . .

This type of thing has happen to me several times. I married woman will come into purchase a home by herself because she is leaving her husband.

She will go all the way thru the process, take a copy of the contract back home with her, leave it on the kitchen counter for her husband to see (that she is serious this time!). A few days later, she wants to cancel because she made a mistake and wants to cancel

Ask the manager if they have a buy out program. Let them know that you where in a hurry to get out and in doing so you where upset and was not thinking properly. If they do have the program. It will cost you a few hundred dollars to get out. However you can advertise it your self and bring in a potential renter yourself and have them make a new up lease. If you advertise it on CraigsList it will cost you nothing to advertise it. Best of luck

Unfortunately, without looking at the lease agreement I can offer no advice. Take a look at the agreement. Then come clean with your landlord. Perhaps they will let you out with a modest penalty for cancellation. At this point, you have nothing to lose.

I don't think you have an option except to plead with your landlord. It is a real pain to find a good tenant - and that's probably why he/she wants a lease. And he won't want to miss a months rent. I would try to talk to him and tell him your situation. I think he would rather do another search for another tenant than have one in there that potentially couldn't pay the rent - you. So just go to him and talk....... see what happens - I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya!! good luck

You have no option except to ask the landlord to voluntarily cancel the lease. Its a contract and you signed it.
