are they not taking away the nicotine cravings? You might need to be on them a bit longer. They don't totally take them away, but they sure keep them under control. You might just have to tough it out. Don't smoke for three days; I guarantee that by day four, you won't care. And you won't need the Chantix anymore (or the nasty side effects that it has). You'll pretty well start to regain your sense of smell. You'll also notice that your penis is more sensitive. You'll more than likely go through a short period when you'll cough like crazy; that's just you lungs trying to eject what's left of the crud in there, but this shouldn't last more than a few days. Good luck. You're doing yourself the biggest favor in the world.

I was a very heavy smoker, I used the strongest hand rolling tobacco that I could get, I was smoking 60+ per day, I was forced to stop because of a heart attack ! For the first month or so I had a bad cough and occasional sore throats, stick with it, in the end you feel better in yourself, the greatest incentive is the difference it makes to your pocket. I don't think that you ever lose the craving, occasionally I could really do with a cigarette, but I think, to hell with it !!

I dont know about the effects of the drugs but i do know that it's great to be a non-smoker once the addiction finally wears off. It's such a pleasure to not have a permanent cough and to be able to do things like walk up stairs without getting out of breath and to have fingers that arent yellow and dont stink of smoke.
good luck, it's not easy but the results are well worth the struggle x

well I am a non smoker, but a neighbour of mine was a chain smoker,he always had one in his mouth, coughing ,spluttering, and I always thought him to be older than me,anyway,he tried all the patch's,but no luck,he then tried something called cyaban,or something sounding like that, this was prescribed by a doctor, anyway, after about five or six weeks,he had totally changed.
He looked a picture of health, a good ten years younger, even his skin looked smooth.
He told me he had never felt so alive, and he was now saving so much money, about £40-£50 per week, that he could go on more holidays.

2 weeks that fantastic keep it up dude. I smoked for 2 years when i was younger, i started at 14 with peer pressure and quit for health reasons at 16. I stopped cold turkey due to not wanting my parents to find out, so i really cant help you there. Although you will get cravings, just be strong. Carry sweets and gum on you at all time, when you feel tempted eat eat eat. Drunked nights out meant that i have started socially smoking when heavy drinking due to having no self control.

I went cold turkey about 3yrs ago & i feel great i have'nt had a cold , flue or chest infection in over 2.5yrs,
I put on the pounds as i got my taste back, but hey i can breathe again.
You don't need drugs to get you off of cigs, you need a reason & tons of will power.
Make everywere you go a no-smoking area, it really works.
The best of luck
P.S. have faith in yourself & keep trying, you will
succeed v v v

When I quit I went cold turkey and the first month and a half were hell!
However, after that month and a half I felt I could participate much more easily in physical activity. Within a year I felt like my lungs had made a huge improvement.

I quit 7 years ago and I still have urges and anxiety dreams. On the other hand, way more energy and a better sense of health. Food tastes better, I can smell things. It's a trade off, but I'll take it.
